"Power Ballad" REVIEW

In a nutshell, it’s another Wedding Singer meets copyrights law. It's something that inevitably happens to nearly every singer in the music business.

When washed up now wedding singer, Rick has a chance encounter with former boy band star Danny Wilson, as a "drink and jam" session turns into a real life nightmare when Danny takes Rick’s song and turns it into a number one hit. Of course, it's no surprise as he takes all the credit himself.  Now it’s up to Rick to reclaim the glory and riches rightfully owed to him. However he must also come to terms with something that is far greater than that. 

All in all, Power Ballad, like Wedding Singer, is full of the same classic tunes with comedy to lighten the mood.  What’s more important is realizing Paul Rudd can actually sing, that is in his own way and he carries himself well especially next to Nick Jonas as Danny. The two do an awesome job of portraying something that is indeed very real and very unkind. It shows the dirt of the music business as far as what musicians are willing to do to get to the top.

Furthermore the film also stars Rory Keenan and the snake like business partner as well as Peter Mcdonald as Rick’s good friend and Beth Fallon as his daughter. 

The film came out in limited theaters June 1 and has expanded to a few more theaters near you. See it for a fun loving, heartfelt good story near you.
