"The Invite" REVIEW

The last thing that Joe wants is to have a dinner party especially with his upstairs neighbors that are all too “loud”. When his wife Angela plans it last minute, he grits his teeth preparing for the party that he least wants to participate while begrudgingly resenting his wife. What ends up in a comical debate soon becomes the very thing that might in fact fix their marriage or at least show them what is their fate. 

Written and directed by Olivia Wilde, The Invite is a pleasantly entertaining comedy about the struggles of married couples fighting resentment as they figure out just why they are still together. It’s something that society does very easily and for many unhappy couples there is only one solution, but that’s not for everyone and The Invite shows another more comedical approach that might in fact have a more satisfying outcome. 

The film stars Wilde as well as Seth Rogan with Penelope Cruz and Edward  Norton, all who mesh well as they create the type of “Invite”  that we all regret and ultimately all need in order to truly fix the root of their problem.   

With an R rating, it’s a film that is not recommended for all as it contains some very crude sexual humor not for the faint of heart. But for those who want a good comedy night at the movies this is certainly the one for you. 

The Invite came out in theaters June 26th and is currently playing in one near you.
