It’s the hope that any marriage is worth fighting for no matter how bad things get. In a new remake of a 1989 film, this version certainly has a happier ending.
The comedy stars Dr Strange’s Benedict Cumberbatch and Wonka’s Olivia Coleman as the picture perfect couple who slow begin to be less then perfect as the wife’s career takes off leaving the husbands career in shambles. Ultimately both Cumberbatch and Coleman do a fine job of portraying that while adding their own comedic humor to the mix.
Similarly the film also stars Kate McKinnon who adds to the raunchy humor similar to how she did in Barbie. Andy Samberg and Allison Janney equally add a legal comedy sense making the threat of divorce that much more of a realistic thing.
All in all The Roses which came out in theaters August 28 is a film that will make audiences laugh at the quirky things that married couples go through and will beg the question just how much is too much. Only time will tell as we watch The Roses love story come to life on the big screen. The film is also based on the book by the same name and is currently playing in a theater near you.
