"Buddy" REVIEW

It’s a demented Barney on steroids. When Buddy finds a way to trap kids watching the show into the tv, it leads you to wonder how they will even escape and in fact how long they have been trapped. Now it’s up to Freddy to figure out how to escape for good.
The movie overall is done in an episodic show format almost like another Groundhog Day where each day seems to be a new episode with very similar things happening and always ending with Buddy’s familiar theme song that coincidentally bears similarity to Barney’s.
All the while each episode gets a bit more darker as the kids begin to notice other kids disappearing in violent ways as new kids appear suddenly in the clubhouse.
Buddy stars The Rose’s Delaney Quinn who is no stranger to scary movies especially involving magical friends. She uses the same style from Imaginary and Quiet Place Day One to intensify the horror as she learns the truth.
Similarly the film also stars Christin Mollioti as Grace, Topher Grace as Ben and Keegan Michael Key as the voice of Buddy. All of whom do an awesome job of bringing to life a beloved 90s adaptation that goes completely psycho and wrong in every way.
The film is rated R and may not be suitable for kids but those who grew up in the 90s might have a fun laugh at the poor unicorns expense.
The film came out in theaters August 28th and is currently playing in one near you. See it if you dare to relive child hood memories and hopefully not let those memories become your worst nightmares. Viewers be warned.
