Lori Butler has always admired once famous artist Julian Sklar. When his estranged children enlist her into making forged paintings using their fathers unfinished canvas, she is turn. Reluctantly she goes along with it as she takes on a job as assistant to Julian. Things are going well, until Julian discovers his children's mischievous plans. Now it's up to Lori to either complete the task or help Julian fix his children once and for all.
All in all, The Christophers is a movie unlike any other. It definitely contains elements of both comedy and drama and will have audiences amused at the action on the screen. Set in an old style art format, it definitely paves way to a classic work of art.
The film stars first and for most Ian McKellan who has a true knack for comedy while trying to be somewhat of a more serious role. Additionally, Michaela Coel stars as the aspiring artist/assistant that is ultimately caught in the middle of the epic scandal to bank on a forged inheritance. She does an equally good job of portraying this and communicating with both the children and McKellan in so what of different points of view.
Finally Jessica Gunning and James Cordon play the two grown children with the devilish plot and do a good job of creating a poor and bad situation.
All in all, the ending definitely has that "I told you so" and "Gotcha" moment that will leave audiences laughing at the stupidity that people go through to make a few bucks especially when it is illegal.
The Christophers came out in theaters April 17 and is currently playing in one near you.
