It's history on the big screen as Jude Law takes on one of the most hated men in our world history after the Cold War. Ultimately Law has a certain elegance to the role that causes audiences to feel for the man behind the monster. Additionally, the film also stars Paul Dano as the advisor to Putin and his performance is equally exceptional. Finally Alicia Vikander and Jeffrey Wright rounds out the wel established cast to create an epic story for audiences to marvel over.
The Wizard of the Kremlin is based in part on a novel by Guilano Da Empoli. The film as a whole is a unique one told in very much of a documentary style way. In such, it might not be for nearly everyone. There is very little action as most of the film showcases the everyday mannerisms of Putin and his staff which Law does a fabulous job of capturing this.
The scenes furthermore capture the boldness of the Soviet Union including the exsquite sights and sounds of the rich terrain and the soundtrack, mostly instrumental sets the mood for the very serious nature of the film, though there is a bit of "Def Punk" moments which may cause people to nod therei heads and tap their toes.
At 2 hour 16 minute run time, it's a film not for the action prone viewer, but rather for rouge history buffs wishing to explore their knowledge of the past. The Wizard of the Kremlin came out in theaters May 15th and is currently showing in one near you.
