This second weekend in October saw 4 blockbuster films buying for number one at the box office, but only one truly made it and that's Disney's Tron: Ares which brought in 33 million. The true story comedy starring Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst came short at number 2. The faith based, true story by Affirmed Films "Soul on Fire" brought in just 3 million and landed at number 5, while the fourth musical film featuring Jennifer Lopez barely made 900 thousand and didn't even make the top 10 at the box office.
The following reviews for Tron: Ares, Roofman, and The Kiss of the Spider woman are below for your reading pleasure. Additionally feel free to click the review of the incredible true story, Soul on Fire here.
Tron: Ares

It’s not our purpose it’s our programming. Our purpose is yet to be decided.
When a rogue version of Ares realizes what is happening, he must make a decision to go against programming and save Eve Lee. What he doesn’t realize he must go back to the 80’s where it all began in order to find the original programming to stop this new Tron Ares. The question is will he be able to find is purpose in the midst of his programming?
In a word, this latest version of Tron: Ares bares similarity to the Terminator saga; the only difference is instead of robots, it's AI that we must fear, but not all AI is bad and just like previous they may even prove to be helpful.
The film stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee and Jeff Bridges, all of who bring a very unique viewpoint to this AI technology battle. The way the three help craft the film will cause you to be totally engaged all the way through.
With a unique storyline, awe inspiring graphics and sound, it will have you really captivated in the story almost as if you are actually there.
Tron:Ares came out in theaters October 10th and is currently playing at one near you.
KISS of the Spider Woman

Based on the Broadway musical around the Argentinian revolution of the 1980’s, the film circles around two men in prison for political activism while using the art of musical theater to take their minds off the realistic portrayal of political warfare. In a nutshell the film does a good job of capturing the prison setting in a War torn country.
The film stars the musical talents of Jennifer Lopez next to Diego Luna and Tanatiuh who do a great job of keeping up with the famed pop star that J Lo is. The three do a great job especially considering they are playing 2 to 3 different characters at one time; a commonality in any staged play even being brought to the big screen.
Equally the film does a good job of jumping from what's happening in real life prison to that of the theatrical work of art. It does so in such a way that audiences have to really be paying attention les they miss something.
The film as a whole deals with a few key points including an intriguing love story of a very queer point of view. Though there are few very explicit, graphic scenes where sexual conduct is shown, that being said, viewer discretion is highly advised.
The Kiss of the Spider Woman came out in theaters and is currently playing in one near you. If you are truly a fan of the musical art farm, then you shouldn't miss it before it leaves the big screen.
Roofman

It's a story that will leave audiences truly feeling for the man who robbed so many fast food restaurants in 2004, all to be able to give his family what he thought they needed. When Jeffrey Manchester is finally caught and sentenced to years in prison, all he could think about is getting out to his family any way possible. The only thing is his wife has moved on and wants nothing to do with him or even to expose their three young children to his craziness.
Now determined to make a new life, he finds himself camping out in plain sight at a Toys R Us where he meets a divorced woman with two daughters of her own. He is smitten and in a desperate attempt to woo her, he stoops to some of his old methods, taking from the store to fund his lifestyle as he starts to win them over. What he doesn't realize in both situations, is that it's not about the extravagant gifts but about himself only. Will he realize this before it's too late or will he be caught once again and sentenced to even more time in prison?
Roofman is a heartfelt comedy with a deeper message for all and as it is based on true events, the story will touch even more people who go to see it. The film stars Channing Tatum, Kristen Dunst, Peter Dinklage and LaKeith Stanfield, all of who do an incredible job of shedding light to a very real situation. It's a story of a real life person that people who encountered him would say was the nicest criminal they had ever scen.
Roofman came out October 10th and is currently playing in one near you.
