It’s the movie leading into our summer blockbusters where people are reminded why they don’t want to go in the water.
An international plane from Los Angeles to Shanghai is forced to make a crash landing but there is more danger as to what lays under the water as the anxiously wait for rescue. In a word, it is Jaws meets Lost as the passengers must put aside all differences and fight to survive.
The action packed suspense thriller, Deep Water stars Aaron Eckhart as well as Ben Kingsley as the father and son pilot team who absolutely excel in their roles. Joining them is They Will Kill You’s Angus Sampson who in a lot of ways truly embraces that role of guy you love to hate. It definitely shows his acting out as he plays just an intriguing as a character as before. Finally the film would not be complete without Lucy Barrett as the flight attendant determined to save everyone even when this feat seems impossible and young breakout star Molly Belle Wright lets her suspense acting grow in this film. She is no longer shy kid who can’t speak out against the bully as in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. No now she has more of a history that she wishes to correct when she is reunited with her family that was also on board the plane.
All in all, Deep Water is a film that will for sure cause you to set up and take listen to the danger underneath the water. It will have you routing for the survivals while the thought may go through you head and that is will everyone really get back home safely.
The film came out in theaters May 1 and is currently playing in a theater near you. See it for an action packed wet and wild ride into “Deep Water”.
